Poster Girl (Privavte 1x1)

Joshua leaned against a wall of another unfamiliar house. This was the third party this week he had crashed. Because of that, he really didn't know anybody there. He scanned the crowd over the rim of his cup. The alcohol flowed down his throat, scorching it a little. He pulled the cup away and coughed a little. It was stronger than he expected. He straightened up and went back to looking at the crowd. He was looking for something fun to do. Too bad this crowd seemed so dull. A party full of drunk twenty-somethings, it was becoming the norm. Josh just wanted something exciting to happen.

As if on cue, something exciting did happen. A fight broke out in the other room. A bunch of the people rushed to either watch or help break it up. Joshua wanted to join in. He took another gulp from his drink and set it on the table. He walked briskly but casually into the other room. Two guys were in the center of a circle screaming profanities and throwing wimpy punches at each other. A few friends tried to jump in and stop them but they got hit. Josh pushed his way through the circle. He shook his eye length bangs out of his eyes and cracked his neck. He broke through and made it to the people in the center. One of the guys asked, "Who the hell are you?" Josh smiled and punched the guy in the stomach. The other guy looked at him with shock on his face and Josh punched him in the face. A bunch of the guys in the circle tried to gang up on him but he walked away and they all jumped on top of each other.

As he walked out of the room, Josh laughed. He picked up his discarded drink and finished it. Then he found his leather jacket on the rack and left. The city night was cool but fresh compared to the stale smoke inside. He needed to do something to it so it pulled out a cigarette of his own. He inhaled deeply and walked down the street. He needed a new party or something exciting to do.

Kaylenn staggered down the street in her blue ripped jeans and her tank top which showed a little mid-driff of her stomach. She was with a few friends, and had left some party about half an hour ago, after a fight had broken out and the girls stole a few more drinks. Chugging the coolers and the 2'6 of vodka they had taken, the three girls only made it a little ways down the street; Being drunk, they thought only ten mnutes had passed since they'd left. Boy were they wrong. Losing track of time was something Kaylenn did, drunk or not. She figured if people thought she was important enough, they'd wait as long as she would like them to. It was her way of thinking, and no one ever brought it up, figuring she would have some reasoning for her ways of thinking like she always did.

"Girls, we need a tax -- taxi." Morgan grinned, smashing her cooler bottle on the side of the road. Kaylenn and the other girl, whose name was Taylor, both nodded and agreed with Morgan. "My legs hurt." Taylor stated, rubbing her small, skinny thighs. Giggling drunkly, Kaylenn slapped her in the back. "Stop whining." Kaylenn said, still giggling. Seeing a new figure approach them, Morgan was the first to stick her hand up in the air and wave to it. Unaware of who it was, the three girls staggered over towards him, each of them trying to regain composure. "Hey babe." Morgan said drunkly, winking at the guy they had approached.

Kaylenn rolled her eyes, wanting none of this. Morgan was known for her "oh-so-kind" actions towards men, which disgusted her. People called Kaylenn a lot of names, though she never had been called anything Morgan had been called. Giving the guy a small smile, she slung her arm around Taylor's neck, using her as balance. "Hey." Kaylenn mumbled quietly. Sipping a little more of the 2'6 of vodka, she handed it down to Taylor.

Josh wasn't paying attention to the people on the street. The city was full of people he didn't care about. He took another drag of his cigarette. He was near the end of it. After one last drag, he flicked it away toward the subway grate. He walked over the grate as a train ran by. His feet shook and he shifted his weight so he'd be on the sidewalk instead.

Without him noticing, Joshua was surrounded by three women. He looked at each of them in turn. He smiled evilly to himself. He wasn't one to take advantage of a drunk woman but if they threw themselves at him, it would be hard to say no. Each girl was attractive in her own way but none of them really stood out in the dark. "Hey, ladies." He saw the one girl pass a bottle to another girl. "Just come from a party?"

Morgan began to speak up first. She seemed pretty anxious. "Yeah, we came from that house down there." Pointing to a house somehwere on the street, she retracted her hand and finger and placed it by her side. "That Devan guy's place." Kaylenn corrected, not drunk enough to be a total ditz like Morgan was. "Where'd you come from?" Kaylenn asked, a little curious. There were only a few others on the street, probably people leaving the party, and Kaylenn hadn't seen the guy at there. Or, maybe she had - it was too dark to see him clearly anyway, and it wasn't like she would remember him perfectly either.

Kaylenn shifted her heavy bracelets on her wrist a few times, sick of the weight holding her down. When she was intoxicated, they seemed to feel like 100-weight pounds hanging by her wrist. Taking them off, she slipped each bracelet into her jean pocket, her wrists feeling a lot more better and not so sweaty as they had been before. The wind picked up a little, and leaves from an overhead tree fell down slowly in the dark.

The breeze came through the small group. Joshua shifted inside his jacket. The cold didn't bother him but standing out on the street with a little alcohol in his system and women in front of him made him a little uneasy. "I came from some house over here. No idea who's it was though. Party was sort of lame" He shrugged.

Josh's eyes shifted to the girl that was moving. He watched her put her bracelets away. Another gust of wind picked up. This one was stronger than the last. He looked up at the sky. Clouds seemed to be rolling in but he couldn't tell if that meant a storm was on it's way or not. "Do you girls have anywhere else to go?" he asked. He was bored out on the street and if these girls knew of another party, he was up for it.

The breeze bicked up again, a few more leaves spialing downwards. Kaylenn shivered; being in ripped jeans that were basically torn to a shred and a tank top that showed a little of her flat stomach wasn't pleasant. Morgan spoke up again, excited sounding. "No, we like. Totally dont have anywhere to go." Morgan said, playing with her rings on her finger. Taylor sighed at Morgan's sad attempts to seduce the guy in front of her. "Morgan, go home." Taylor mumbled, glaring at her. Morgan's head snapped back to look at the girl who had spoken up, and glared straight back at her. "Excuse me?" In an annoyed tone, she took off down the street leaving by winking at the guy again. Taylor sighed once again, though it was covered by Kaylenn's laughs.

"You're going to have to excuse her." Kaylenn said, looking at the girl staggering ziggity-zagged down the street. "She's so going to get lost." Playing with ehr tongue ring, Kaylenn thought of just where they were headed. Taking the vodka back, she downed a gulp of it, and the burn choked her a little. "There was supposed to bea party at Skye's house ay?" Kaylenn asked, looking at Taylor. Taylor nodded in return. "Well, we were headed to Skye's then. Where are you headed?"

Josh watched the drunk girl stagger down the street. He didn't really care what happened to her. She was too drunk and he didn't like a girl who couldn't handle her liquor. "She gonna make it?" He did notice the other girl shiver. He came close to offering her his jacket but this was his leather jacket, he was keeping it for himself.

Instinctively, Josh's hand went up to his ear. He put a finger through the double 0 gauge and tugged. He thought about the party. "Skye's house," he mused. He thought of something, "Maybe I should accompany you ladies there. I'm a free man with no where to go." He walked between the two girls and placed an arm around each of their shoulders, "You don't mind," he looked at the one who seemed annoyed with the one who left then to the girl who just downed the vodka, "do you?"

Taylor shrugged. Neither of the girls really liked her, though they both knew the guys did. You could say they used her, though she did the exact same with them; Taylor and Kaylenn supplied the alcohol and Morgan supplied the boys. Though tonight Morgan clearly failed to supply. "I don't think either of us care." Kaylenn replied finally, speaking for herself and for Taylor. Taylor nodded, agreeing.

A small smile appeared on Kaylenn's lips, though it wasn't very noticeable in the dark. Feeling him slip his hand around her shoulder and the same with Taylor's, she nodded. "Sounds good, it's just. Uh." Kaylenn looked around, trying to figure out which street they had wandered onto. "I think it's just a few streets from her. McCurrach is the name." Kaylenn added, hoping she didn't end up looking too much like a ditz. "Ay, you want?" She asked, waving the bottle in front of the guy's face.

Realizing she didn't know his name, she decided to ask, keeping the bottle of vodka near his face in the air. "What's your name, hon?" Kaylenn asked, quickly sneaking another small chug of the vodka. That was all she would have for tonight. Though once she arrived at the party, that might become a bit of a different story. "My name is eh, Kaylenn. And that's Taylor."

Joshua laughed at the girls. "You women never cease to amaze me. Leaving your friend out like that." He smiled down at them, "I think I'm in love," he joked. He swung the three of them around, "McCurrach is that way." He took a step and hoped the girls were sober enough to follow.

Kaylenn waved the vodka bottle in his face and he stopped walking, "I can't turn down alcohol." He took the bottle out of her mouth and hands and put it in his mouth. It didn't matter to him where their mouths had been, free alcohol was free alcohol. He took a long sip. "Ah. Cheap stuff, decent stuff."

He passed the bottle to Taylor, "My name's Joshua or Josh depending on how you're feeling and what I want you to call me. You two ladies can call me whatever you want." Josh took another step forward. The girls were showing him another party and he wanted to get there. He was growing bored.

Kaylenn giggled. "Seriously, we should be named as the eighth wonder of the world." She joked, her smile still on her face. Being swung around made her easily dizzy, though she ignored the fact she was getting tipsy and took off beside him. "Right. I was just testing you t-to see... To see if you knew where you were going." Kaylenn was one for useless excuses, even while sober. However, she was not sober, nor drunk. She was buzzed.

"Exactly. It gets the job done." Kaylenn said, snatching the bottle back from Taylor and taking a quick swig of it. Taylor frowned at Kaylenn, and took the bottle back and stuck ehr tongue out at her in a childish manner. "Why spend money on alcohol that tastes better, when you can spend that on... other stuff." Kaylenn lost her train of thought, and babbled the last part. A small smile sppeared on her face, a little embaressed.

"Josh. That's a nice name." Taylor stated, sobering up rather quickly. When she had taken the 2'6 of vodka from Kaylenn she hadn't drank any; She figured Kaylenn had had enough for one night, though. Taylor was left as the respinsible one of the group, so she saw it. "Can I call you sexy?" Kaylenn chirped, jokingly.

Josh took his arms off of the women. He wondered in Kaylenn would be able to make it since he let go. She was staggering around quite a bit. "Sure you were and you are the soberest one here." He watched the girls practically fight over the bottle. It made him laugh. "I think she's had enough," he was pointing at Kaylenn after her sentence trailed off.

He urged them forward and down the street. It had to have been 2am by now and the weather was cooling off. He nodded at Taylor, "Thanks. My parents seem to think so too." He turned and looked at Kaylenn again, "No. Can I call you Kay?" Josh stopped walking, "Where exactly are we going? McCurrach is right here," he pointed up to the street sign he stood under.

When Josh took his arm of of Kaylenn, she stumbled for a few seconds but caught her footing quickly. She bursted out in laughter for a few seconds, and regained composure unwillingly. Taylor seemed to be getting pretty annoyed easily. "Pffft." Kaylenn shrugged the look taylor had given her off. "Definately sober." Taylor said sarcastically, rolling her eyes to add to her annoyance by Kaylenn. She was always the last to sober up, which frusterated her easily.

"Uhkay." Kaylenn agreed to letting Josh call her Kay. She had many nicknames from her friends, though she;d never heard that one before. "McCurrach is here?" Kaylenn asked, peering down the dark street, lit by just a few street lamps. Taylor nodded. "It's the first house, smart one." She said, looking over at Kaylenn who looked a little confused. Kaylen shrugged and walked over towards the house, unaware if the other two were following her or not.

"Thought so," Joshua said. The house Taylor said was the one with most of its lights on and music drifting out of the few open windows. Josh had broken into a few houses before to get into a party. He naturally took notice of the open windows because of that. He hooked arms with Taylor and leaned in close, "Come on, girl. You need to chill out. We're at a party now. Loosen up and let her have her fun." He patted her arm before letting go.

"All right, girls. We are here. Let us enter and have fun. Maybe I'll see you after." He shot them a look each. Kay was very tipsy now. He wondered if he should leave such a scantily clad drunk girl alone. He shook his head and turned to start walking down the street toward the house. He made it to the walkway and waited for them. He didn't want to have to sneak in, especially if these women knew about the party. They were his ticket in.

Taylor shrugged away from him, putting a pout on her face. She was tempted to throw a small fit, and storm off, though that wouldn't make her look much better than Morgan. She'd wander off during the party, she hoped. Kaylenn looked up at the dark sky, just a few stars showing through. her grandpa had always told her if you didn't see many stars it was because there were clouds in the sky. "A storm?" She wondered to herself, hoping there wouldn't be one. Though, she didn't mind walking home drunk in the rain. It was fun, and besides, being drunk in the rain means you don't feel cold - or anything, really.

Kaylenn walked slowly up towards the front door, meeting up with the other two. "Well, I think the alcohol has worn off." She said numbly, unhappy about it. Kaylenn opened the door, figuring knocking wouldn't do any good. In the house, there was one room that was filled with most of the people, a few others scattered about the house. Walking over towards a group of people, she waved at them. "Josh, this Maggie, Duncan, Sophie, and Marcus." Kaylenn introduced them to eachother, and went into the kitchen to get a beer.

Josh stood outside the circle of people. This party didn't seem so big but there were people scattered everyone. He hoped not everyone was a friend of some kind. He waved once to the people Kaylenn was introducing him to. He watched her duck into the kitchen. Taylor was lingering in the back already. He didn't worry too much about her because she was sober. Kaylenn on the other hand was going to get more drinks.

He left the group of friends. That was not his place to be. He went into the kitchen and found Kaylenn. "Anything interesting in here?" He looked at the counters. There were a few bottles of booze on the counter. A cooler sat on the floor and the refrigerator stood in the corner. He leaned against the counter and folded his arms. The leather jacket was getting warm in the house but he didn't know where to put it just yet.

Going through a few shelves in the house, she snarfled a package of cookies. "Ay, lookie here." She said, waving the box around, the cookies tossing around inside the package. Taking two cookies, she put them on the counter, and offered Josh a couple too before shoving the package back into the cupboard. "Hm. This alcohol isn't my style." Kaylenn said looking at the beer in the fridge.

Turning towards the cooler that laid on the ground, she opened it and found a thing of baileys. "Oh, kidding." Kaylenn corrected herself. Baileys was her all-time favorite type of alcohol. It had that taste to it that made her go crazy - once she'd had enough of it, that is. "Want some?"

Josh took out a few cookies. He shoved one in his mouth. It seemed that Kay was talking to himself. He had to laugh around the cookie mush. He swallowed the mass and almost choked on it. He coughed once it was down, "My lungs do not enjoy cookies." He decided that the next cookie should be eaten more slowly. Instead of shoving the whole thing in, he took a bite and chewed. Once that part was completely down his throat, he popped the other half into his mouth.

He peeked over her shoulder to see what was in the fridge. He saw the bottles of beer and was about to take one when she shut the door. He frowned slightly but didn't say anything. Kay then found the bottle of Bailey's in the cooler. He passed on her offer, "I'd rather have a beer." He opened the fridge and uncapped the bottle with his hand. Nothing beat twist off caps. He threw the cap into the garbage and drank. Sure this wasn't going to get him drunk but it was something better than the Bailey's.

He leaned against the counter and watched Kaylenn move about the kitchen. Joshua took a bite out of his last cookie. It didn't taste so good on top of the beer but food was food. Free food was even better. "So, tell me about you. You seem to be the only person here with a real wild side. Everyone else seems a little dull for my taste."

Putting the Baileys on the counter beside the cookies, she hopped up onto the counter leaving her legs dangling over the edge. She popped half a cookie in her mouth after breaking it. A few crumbs fell onto the floor, but she wasn't about to pick them up. "Suit yourself." Kaylenn said, popping the top off of the Baileys bottle, and taking a sip straight from it. No need for glasses or cups, when she wasn't planning on sharing with anyone.

"Huh. Beer is so gross." Kaylenn stated, though mostly to herself. She wasn't a big fan of beer; Though if that was the only alcohol a place had, she'd definately drink it without a second thought. Shrugging, Kaylenn washed down ehr half of the cookie with a sip of Baileys. "Well. I guess I'm a free spirit." Kaylenn said modestly, being truthfully honest. "I'm not a nutcase." She added quickly, her tone growing a little rude. It was the last thing she wasnted to be seen as - insane.

She wasn't insane. She didn't need to go to an insane asylum for anything. A free spirit is what she is. Her father always told her she was a free spirit, while her mother insisted she was weird, a freak, and untameable. Getting kicked out of her house regularly was something that happened often, though not often enough for her to be kicked out for good. "Being dull is the last thing I am." She said, lickign the icing off of one cookie. "What about yourself? I like, can't figure you out."

"You are right," Josh said motioning the bottle toward Kaylenn, "beer is gross. But I prefer it over the Bailey's." He finished the rest of his cookie. He put the bottle on the counter and took off his jacket. It was way too hot in the house for that. He put that on the counter next to the bottle and picked the bottle back up. He took a sip of it and looked at Kay again.

Joshua shook his head, "I never said you were insane. I just said you had a wild side." He raised his eyebrows, "Someone has issues." He wasn't about to press her. She was a total stranger to him. Usually he would but something about Kaylenn interested him. "All I said was that you seem to be the only person here I could tolerate. You see my peircings and tattoos. Hell, I walked in wearing leather. These people all seem dull like this is an upscale social gathering."

He shrugged when she asked him about himself, "I prefer to be a mystery. I like to party and that's all you need to know for now." Josh wasn't ready or about to open up to this girl. He didn't care what she knew and what she didn't know but something about her struck a cord in him. He wasn't sure what it was but there was definitely something about this girl he couldn't figure out.

Chewing the bottom half of the cookie, she nodded. Beer was very gross. it didn't smell nice, and it didn't taste great either. Kaylenn always wondered just what guys found so great about beer. Picking up the bottle of Baileys again, she washed the cookie down with a small sip, her tongue peeking through her thin pink lips and hiding back inside her mouth.

Kaylenn shrugged; Josh was right; He hadn't called her insane, though she surely thought he was leading up towards that. Setting the bottle on the counter, she frowned slightly. "Do not." She retorted childishly. "Piercings and tattoos are fascinating, though." Kaylenn said, sticking her tongue out far enough for a small silver circle to appear. Kaylenn had her tongue pierced, and after that, she figured she wouldn't get anymore. "I don't have any tattoos, though." Kaylenn added, unhappy about that.

Resting a finger on her chin, Kaylenn took an interest in Josh slowly. "A mystery, ay?" Kaylenn always found herself tryign to pry people apart, figure them out. She was a nosy person and asked questions that in general, shouldn't be asked. Restraining her vocal chords from making any noise, she nodded. "What time is it?" Kaylenn asked, suddently rushed. She needed to call her mother by 2:30; She was always worrying about her, hoping her daughter wouldn't pass out on the street. A worry wart, was what Kaylenn called her.

Josh took another sip of his beer. He hadn't realized how fast he went through it. The bottle was empty already. He put the empty on the counter, unsure of what to do with it. He contemplated going into the fridge for another one. He shrugged, wasn't his house or his beer, what did he care. He opened the door and took out another beer. This wasn't doing it for him at all. He popped off the cap and took a swig.

"For someone with a tongue ring, I'd expect a tattoo or two," he replied. He held out his arms, "I have these," then he lifted up his shirt a little, "these and a few on my back. My ears are the only things pierced." He drank more of the beer. He really wanted something stronger. He was sobering up. "You sound sad about the lack of tattoos. I could tell you a place that's decent and cheap if you want."

Kay seemed a little on edge almost. He wondered what was going through her mind. Then again, what was it to him? She didn't ask questions about him like any other girl would and that fact made him like Kaylenn over other girls. He pulled out his cell phone, "It's 2:24. Why? Have a date or something?" he laughed a little before taking another sip of beer.

Kaylenn laughed a little, eating her last bit of cookie. The cookies didn't taste very well, so kaylenn thought. She was more of an oreo type girl. "Well, I've always wanted a tattoo." Kaylenn said. "It'd be great if you showed me a place or two." Looking at Josh's tattoos, she smiled a little. "Very nice."

"Shit." Kaylenn said, reaching for her cellular which sat in her jeans' pocket. She dialed a number quickly, and it rang. Finally someone picked up, and Kaylenn began to speak. "Mom, I'm sorry I didn't call earlier." She pause,d listening to what the lady on the other end had to say. "Yeah I'll be home later." Taking another swig, she listened. "I don't know how late later is. Mom, whatever. Ciao." And with that, Kaylenn hung up.

"Eh, yeah. A date with my mom." Kaylenn rolled her eyes.

"It'd be no problem. Obviously I know them very well at the shops." Josh laughed lightly and took another sip. Another bottle was empty. He left it on the counter next to the other one. "I need to stop going through those so fast," he said more to himself than Kaylenn.

He raised his eyebrow when she said 'mom'. He shoved his own phone back into his pocket then crossed his arms. He looked around the kitchen. This place felt wrong to him. It felt like someone was either throwing a party of friends because their parents were gone or someone was celebrating the face that they just got a new house. He picked up his jacket and took a few steps to close the gap between him and Kay. He grabbed the bottle of Bailey's, took and sip and handed it back to her.

Josh stepped back from the girl. He put his jacket on and adjusted it until it felt right. Then he went to the back door. "Sorry, girlie, but this place doesn't really fit my style. I'm gonna try to find another place. If your mother's going to let you, you can tag a long." He opened the door and stepped onto the small porch and waited for her to say something.

Kaylenn laughed along, though she didn't think anything was very funny. Shrugging, Kaylenn sipped her Baileys, and set it down between her legs. "Alcohol is alcohol. I don't think it's supposed to last any longer than ten minutes." She joked, hough some part of her was serious. She had never had a glass of alcohol that had lasted over twenty minutes. Kaylenn figured it was normal.

Taking the bottle back from Joshua, she hopped off the counter, and walked towards the fridge. "I've had enough of this." Kaylenn said, gesturing to the bottle she was placing back in the fridge. "Or maybe this came from the cooler..." She said to herself, looking back at the cooler. A little confused, she shrugged once again and nodded at Joshua, who was on the porch outside. "Be there in a second." Kaylenn yelled so Josh could hear.

Kaylenn walked towards the other room, where most of the people were. She scouted the place for Taylor, though she wasn't able to find her. Tomorrow she'd get a good yelling at from Taylor, because Kaylenn wasn't about to search the house for her to tell her she was leaving. "Whatever." Kaylenn sighed, and walked back towards the small porch.

Once outside again, Kaylenn gave a small shudder; The wind ahd stopped, though the temperature had more than likely dropped a little. Deciding she'd stick it out and forget about the temperature, Kaylenn brushed the coolness that swept around her off, and walked towards Joshua. "Where are we headed, eh?"

Josh stood on the porch with his hands in his pockets. His fingers played with the lighter in his pocket. He had to be careful he didn't hit the trigger and accidentally set his jacket on fire. He laughed to himself at the thought of that, At least it'd be interesting.

Kaylenn came outside and he turned around. "I have no idea," Joshua said in reply to her question. He walked off the porch and began walking through the backyard. The yard was fenced in. He sighed and looked for a gate. There was one of the side of the house. "Screw this," he muttered and hopped the fence into the neighbor's yard. He walked through that and saw they had a low gate so he just walked through. He was made it to the street and waited.
