PoW Guidelines
PoW Guidelines
These aren’t really set-in-stone sort of rules. These are just some general guidelines to the forum that may help you navigate around and learn more about PoW. They also may help in keeping you out of trouble and out of the center of drama. It is strongly suggested that you read through these because some may be tied back to the rules.

Share your opinion
- Let us know what’s on your mind. You can speak your mind either publically or privately. If you have a suggestion, feel free to let us know about it in our “Feedback” forum. If you would like to express an idea, but don’t wish to do it in public, PM an Admin or Mod.
Don’t be a know-it-all
- You don’t know everything, so please do not act like it. It is ok to have a different opinion than someone else, but please do not try to push your opinion down someone else’s throat. Or act as if you are always right and what you say is law.
Colored font and small text
- Colored font can be blinding. If you use colored font, please preview it first to make sure it won’t hurt people’s eye when they look at it. Also, please don’t use extremely small text. Not all of us have twenty-twenty vision and we don’t want to squint to read what you’re saying.
Read before you reply
- Before you reply to a topic, make sure you’ve read, at least, what the original poster has said. It is a good idea to read what others have commented as well so that you aren’t repeating others.
Cursing
- Cursing is allowed on PoW, however we expect that you keep it to a limit. There is no reason to have to swear every other word. We will not allow any sort of discriminating or racist words in conversation. You may use them in your stories or other such things, but please make sure to put a warning on your topic so readers know what they’re in for.
*Please note: Iif cursing and the use of discriminating words begins to get out of hand, this will become a rule!
Stay on topic
- Try not to stray too far off topic. If someone is talking about something they read, don’t veer the conversation off onto a tangent about what you’ve been doing during the day. Your response should reflect the chosen topic in some way.
Post in right forums
- Please try to post in the correct forums. Use common sense, if you’re creating a topic about a movie, put it in the “entertainment” forum. If you are completely unsure as to where a topic should be placed simply ask a Mod or Admin so it won’t have to be moved later.
We don’t delete
- Here on PoW, we do not delete things, unless it is completely necessary. Old threads and topics that seem to have disappeared are simply moved to another part of the forum to keep the boards organized and uncluttered.
Don’t start drama
- You must always remember that this is the internet. If someone says something that you don’t like, don’t get into a fight with them over it. If get angry if they dislike something that you like or any other such thing. If you are the cause of drama, action may be taken to prevent anything serious from happening.
Save your work!
- PoW is not responsible for any of your lost work. If something accidently gets deleted or something happens to the forum, it is in your best interest to have a back-up somewhere.
Think before you speak
- Though some things may seem funny and harmless to you, they may hurt the feelings of others. Make sure that you take other people’s feelings into consideration before you make a comment. It’s fine to mess around, but be prepared for possible consequences.
Don’t give out your password
- You should never ever give out your password. The Admins and Mods of PoW will never ask you for your password, nor should any of the members. If a member does ask you for your password, please get in contact with an Admin so they can take the proper course of action.
Paragraph Spacing
- When it comes to role-playing and writing, we ask that you separate your paragraphs by one line, at least. There should be a space separating two different paragraphs to make it easier for people to read and for the Writing Critics to determine if you have enough paragraphs in your role-plays. Also, like in story writing, we would like to see your dialogue separated. This may not be something you’re used to, but this place is to learn improvement and this is essential for those of you who wish to be writers in the future. It, again, makes it easier to read--especially if you’re using two different characters. And please make sure your writing is to the left of the page, not the center (unless it’s poetry) or to the right.
Don’t request a certain sex to role-play with
- If you are role-playing or planning to role-play, please do not ask for a specific sex of a person. Just become a female is a female doesn’t mean they can’t play a great male character. This could be looked at as discrimination, so please do not do it.
Prose
- You may notice that in the “Prose” section of PoW there is a space below the “Original” and “Fandom” category. This space can be used to request criticism, to find someone to write along with, or to even just use as brain-storming space.
Criticism
- Please only criticize the work of those who have asked for it. Those who wish to have their work criticized should be labeled in some way, whether it be by adding “please give feedback” at the end of the topic or somewhere within the post. But make sure that you are giving constructive criticism. If you are having something being looked over by others, please do not get upset over their comments, they are trying to help you!
